Panic Disorder

Find relief from sudden fear and regain a sense of calm and control.

Panic disorder is more than just feeling anxious—it involves sudden, intense episodes of fear that can feel overwhelming and unpredictable. These panic attacks often come with strong physical symptoms like a racing heart, shortness of breath, chest tightness, dizziness, or numbness. You may feel like you’re losing control, going crazy, or even having a heart attack.

These episodes can happen unexpectedly, leaving you worried about when the next one will strike. That fear alone can lead to avoidance of certain places or situations—creating a cycle that limits your life and increases anxiety.

There are different ways panic disorder can show up, such as:

Unexpected Panic Attacks – panic that seems to come out of nowhere
Situational Panic – panic triggered by specific environments (e.g., driving, elevators, crowds)
Anticipatory Anxiety – constant worry about when the next panic attack will occur
Agoraphobia – fear of being in situations where escape or help might be hard to reach during a panic attack

Therapeutic Approaches I Use

In therapy, we focus on helping you understand what’s happening in your body and mind during a panic episode. We’ll work together to identify triggers, reduce fear around symptoms, and build your ability to respond calmly when panic arises. Over time, you can break the cycle of fear and regain trust in yourself and your ability to cope.

Schema Therapy

To explore deeper beliefs like “I’m out of control” or “I’m not safe” that fuel panic

EMDR Therapy

To process underlying experiences that may have contributed to panic responses

Cognitive and Mindfulness-Based Techniques

To reduce symptom-related fear and regulate your nervous system in moments of intensity

There Is a Way Forward

Panic attacks can feel terrifying—but they’re also treatable. With support, you can learn how to navigate them with more clarity and less fear.

Even if you’ve been avoiding certain situations or feel like you’re always “on edge,” therapy offers a space to understand your symptoms and rebuild a sense of safety—both internally and in the world around you.

You don’t have to live in fear of the next panic attack.

Therapy can help you break free from the cycle, reclaim your calm, and feel more confident in your day-to-day life./p>
