Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Break free from the cycle of intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) involves a pattern of unwanted, distressing thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive actions or mental rituals (compulsions) performed to ease the anxiety those thoughts create. You might feel stuck in a loop—knowing the fear or behavior doesn’t make sense, but feeling powerless to stop it.
OCD can take many forms and affect everyday life, relationships, and emotional well-being. It’s not about being “neat” or “perfectionistic”—it’s about trying to find relief from the relentless anxiety caused by thoughts that feel intrusive, urgent, or even frightening.

There are different ways OCD can show up, such as:
Contamination OCD – fear of germs, illness, or physical contact, leading to excessive cleaning or avoidance
Checking OCD – repeated checking of doors, appliances, or tasks to prevent imagined harm
Intrusive Thoughts – unwanted violent, sexual, or disturbing thoughts that cause shame or fear
Order & Symmetry OCD – a need for things to feel “just right” to prevent discomfort or anxiety
Mental Compulsions – repeating thoughts, counting, or seeking reassurance silently to feel safe
Therapeutic Approaches I Use
In therapy, we work to understand the root of your obsessions and compulsions while teaching you how to break the cycle. You’ll learn to tolerate the discomfort that thoughts bring—without reacting to them—so they begin to lose their power over you. The goal isn’t to stop all thoughts, but to stop believing they define you.
Schema Therapy
To address deep-seated beliefs like “I must be in control” or “I’m responsible for preventing harm”
EMDR Therapy
To process past experiences that may contribute to anxiety or obsessive fears
Cognitive and Exposure-Based Techniques
To reduce compulsions and build confidence in your ability to handle uncertainty
There Is a Way Forward
Living with OCD can feel exhausting—but you are not your thoughts. With the right support, you can interrupt the loop, find relief, and reconnect with peace of mind.
Even if the thoughts feel disturbing or the rituals feel impossible to stop, therapy offers tools, understanding, and space to rebuild your relationship with your mind—gently and without judgment.
You don’t have to be controlled by OCD.
Therapy can help you manage your symptoms, reduce anxiety, and move through life with greater clarity, calm, and freedom.
